Taking a Break...

After our 400 plus mile passage from Stuart, Florida to Carrabelle, Florida, Annie and I are taking a break. She deserves it and I need it.

There are a number of projects that have to be completed over the next year before we set sail for Saint Lucia but time is on our side. I have decided that Annie will stay on the hard for the most part of the year and when she goes back in the water, everything will be completed, (see her punch list).

Annie is a strong and sure vessel and I'll look forward to finishing her completely over the next year.

Fair seas and God bless!

  1. nice seeing her on the hard, but always better when she's afloat. Makes me wonder if the Westsail in my marina will ever see the water again. Can't say I've ever seen anyone working on her over the past 8 months and is in need of a lot of work.
Annie is looking nice. Your list doesn't look too bad. Not much difficulties, but more time consuming. So, does this mean it'll be a little longer before Fugi rejoins you? Wouldn't be easy getting a dog that size up and down while on the hard.

Good luck to you. Hope it all goes smoothly.

    1. Ironically, there is another Westsail in the small work yard here in Carrabelle... she's in bad shape too. One of the yard workers said the owner shows up every few months.

Fuji is now officially retired and staying with my mom. His hips are getting too bad for boat life. But I'll be staying with him three days a week when I go the Tallahassee, so we're still hanging out.

It's cheaper to keep Annie on the hard than to liveaboard and since I have family in the area it works out well.

    2. It's good to know Fugi is being well taken care of and you'll be able to spend time with him.

I was off work the past two weeks. Go back to work on Monday. I've been working on my big project (fuel tank) with some good progress. Although I got a lot done, it's still not close to being finished. Already thinking ahead to the next project(s). Some people I know are hopeful that I will be sailing this year, but I'm thinking next year is more likely.
